Custom Deck Plans

Help Section for PDF Files

The pdf or "portable document file" is a standard format created by Adobe Software. This format ensures that the deck plans and guides remain readable on many different computers and operating systems. Begin by visiting Adobe's web site to get the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program by clicking on the Adobe button.

    Step 1:

Select the language (probably English if you're here reading this). Select the platform, or operating system, your computer uses. WIN 98 would be for the Windows 98 operating system for example. Select the location that is nearest you, for downloading purposes (probably the USA).

    Step 2:

Fill in your name and E-mail address.

    Step 3:

Click on "download" to begin downloading the Adobe Acrobat Reader. It tells you what version of Acrobat Reader you are downloading and the size of the file as well.

    Step 4:

After you click on "download" you will be taken to an Adobe "Thank You" page that lets you know you have begun to download.

A saving location window will also open when the download begins. This lets you choose where you want to save the Acrobat Reader installer program that you are downloading. It is very important that you remember where you save this file because you will need to open the file to actually install Acrobat Reader once the download is complete. An easy place to find the file woud be to save it to your desktop. Then it will appear with the rest of the icons on your screen. The saving location window may close automatically once the file is downloaded.

The download will take about 10-20 minutes on a 56k modem connection. Once the download is complete you must go to the location you saved it to on your computer and double click on the Acrobat Reader installer file, the file name should be something like the following: ar500enu.exe. The installer program will walk you through the setup process and install the Acrobat Reader program.

Now you can return to the custom decks page and select the Planning Guide you wish to see and print.

The planning guide may take a minute or two to load, but once it does you can print it out or save it to print at a later time.
